These 3 HEPA purifiers are a breath of fresh air

Image
I've had at least 3 or 4 people reach out to me this week for advice about air purifiers, given all the wildfire smoke we've been dealing with. So I'll turn my focus to that. After the last few California wildfire seasons, I decided to upgrade my old Honeywell Enviracaire with some "smarter" air purifiers. After a bunch of research, I settled on a combination of a few models. Coway Airmega 300 : I'm using this as my primary purifier, as it covers 1256 square feet and can handle my open floor plan (They also make a 400 model that covers 1560 square feet.) This purifier looks great and has a smart functionality to automatically kick the fan up when the air quality gets worse. It has 3 different fan speeds; the lower two are really quiet and the high speed is still quiet enough that I can keep it a few feet away from me while on work calls. During wildfire season, I've been keeping it on the middle speed most of the time and then I'll kick it up to high

Irritated skin from hand washing? Not with Dr. Bronner's.

A few years back, my doctor recommended  Dr. Bronner's Pure-Castile Soap  as it is non-irritating to most people. I'd tried the liquid form in the past but wasn't impressed with its watered-down consistency. That was before I tried their bar soap and using a foaming pump for the liquid version. Wow. If you go to the product page on Amazon , you'll find thousands of rave reviews and stories of skin irritations going away once people switch to Bronner's. (I prefer to buy my bottles at Target .) But even if you aren't the sensitive skin type, there are loads of benefits: You can wash your hands dozens of times each day with no irritation. In fact, the oils in the soap are quite moisturizing. Highly recommended: Pair with a foaming dispenser like these ones for an absolutely luxurious lather. I use about 2 parts water to 1 part soap.  I often cut a bar soap in half after using it for a while, then place it in a medium-sized  GoTubb  travel container. Perfect for t

Target Drive Up

Image
I discovered Target Drive Up a couple of years ago while visiting my home state of Minnesota (which is also Target’s home state). I was able to save my precious time for visiting family and friends, swinging by Target for mere minutes while going from point A to point B. It took Target a while to roll Drive Up out to other states, but it’s now available statewide and I use it all the time. Not only is it more efficient, but I end up saving money because I don’t get tempted by impulse buys. I can also just add to my list in the app as I think of things, and finally pull the trigger once I am ready to go pick up my items. I’ve also used it while on vacation in Maui. You can place a food and supplies order prior to landing and swing by Target’s parking lot after picking up your rental car. They’ll bring everything right out to your car with snorkel gear, food, booze, and all the fixings for a Mai Tai. (Actually, in Hawaii I think you may need to go into the store to get the booze. But no

Schnitzelkittens

Raindrops on roses, whiskers on kittens, schnitzel with noodles. We all have our own set of things that make us happy. In recent months, I've found a bunch of things that make my life easier and a bit more pleasant. This blog is to share a few of them with you, in hopes that you too might find a few new favorite things.
